US Highway 1
part of Maine Highway Termini

Nationally, the southern terminus of US 1 is in Key West, Florida. In Maine, it is at the New Hampshire border, on the Kittery Bridge over the Piscataqua River in Kittery.

The northern terminus of US 1, both in Maine and nationally, is at the New Brunswick border in Fort Kent.

There's no official "END US 1" signage. This is the last direction sign you see before you cross the international bridge into Clair, New Brunswick. Right next to it is the marker put up by the Fort Kent Chamber of Commerce commemorating the highway's end. (J.P. Kirby, 5/18/03)

The other side of the historical marker. (J.P. Kirby, 5/18/03)

Here's what you see coming off the bridge and after you report to Customs, including the very first US 1 sign going southbound. (J.P. Kirby, 5/18/03)

The bridge itself. (J.P. Kirby, 5/18/03)

SR 161 follows the river at this point, and runs concurrently with 1 through most of Fort Kent. This is what you see going eastbound on 161 approaching the bridge. (J.P. Kirby, 5/18/03)
